There’s nothing quite like a bowl of hot apple crumble on a cold winter’s night. In this episode of Tim’s Tasty Treats, discover Tim’s secret to the perfect apple crumble… based (very loosely) on an old family recipe 🙂
Ingredients
- 12oz Self Raising Flour
- 6oz Hard Cooking Margarine
- 6oz Demerara Sugar
- Some Apples
- Cinnamon

Instructions
Preheat the oven to 180°C.
Peel and core the apples. Cut into slices and add to a pan with a little water. Put pan on a low heat to gently simmer, stirring occasionally.
Add the flour and sugar to a large mixing bowl and combine. Chop the margarine into pieces and add to the bowl. Rub the margarine to coat with the dry ingredients and continue to do so until there are no large lumps of margarine left and the mixture is like the texture of breadcrumbs.
Once the apples are cooked and the liquid has reduced somewhat, add a little sugar and cinnamon, and stir.
Pour the apple mixture into a large baking dish and spread out to cover the bottom.
Slowly add the crumble mixture evenly over the apples and even out using a fork.
Cook the crumble in the middle of the oven for 20-30 minutes, until golden brown and starting to crack.
Serve with topping of choice and enjoy!
