Join me on a tour of our recently decluttered and reorganised kitchen to see the results of our KonMari Method challenge!
I listened to the audio book "The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up" by Marie Kondo, a Japanese organiser, in a single afternoon whilst cleaning my house. The next day, my husband and I began decluttering and reorganising our entire home.
The method requires you to gather together every item in a specific category so you can see exactly what you have. Next you must hold or touch each item and ask yourself "Does it spark joy?"
This method is such a positive way of decluttering as you focus on the items you love which frees you to discard what you don't. Finally, you organise your things so that similar items are grouped together and remove visual noise such as packaging labels wherever possible.
The method is not about minimalism but rather surrounding yourself with items that spark joy and which you will look after.
We moved through each category quickly and completed our whole home within 10 days back in June 2016. This is the first of our room tours to share with you the results of what the Konmari method has done for us!
